Jared Culm
Creative Technologist
Always curious, Jared Culm has journeyed all around the Midwest but grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. He later attended higher education at UW-Milwaukee, earning degrees in both Film, Animation and New Genres and Psychology. A last-minute connection with Islands of Brilliance during his time at UWM and some continued animation education under the Aardman Academy would ultimately lead Jared toward a new career path. After continuous volunteering with IOB, he was officially brought on as a Creative Technologist with an additional focus on Mentor Coordination.
Now Jared utilizes his creativity to help cultivate imaginative projects at IOB, as well as onboard and train new volunteer mentors who stop by Islands of Brilliance. It’s no coincidence that Jared’s curiosity led him to IOB as a mentor, only to continuously welcome interested folks to this creative community.
You may also encounter Jared roller skating, playing board games, listening to podcasts, and watching movies at the local theaters. With his steadfast curiosity, Jared hopes to connect with others through their passions in order to help connect them to their broader community
